Safe Refuge in Long Beach, located in Los Angeles County, California, is a nonprofit addiction treatment organization that provides a comprehensive continuum of care for individuals recovering from alcohol and drug use disorders. The program offers residential treatment, outpatient treatment, intensive outpatient services, supportive housing, supportive recovery services, and long term aftercare designed to meet the unique needs of each client. Residential treatment is provided in a therapeutic, home like setting with stays ranging from 30 to 180 days or longer, while outpatient programs include relapse prevention, intensive outpatient treatment, and anger management services with flexible daytime, evening, and weekend schedules. Safe Refuge also offers affordable supportive housing for men, women, and families, including specialized services for low income individuals, people experiencing homelessness, veterans, and those enrolled in Medi Cal. Additional services include individual and group counseling, assessments, treatment planning, care coordination, vocational rehabilitation, educational programming, parenting and family services, HIV and AIDS services, 12 Step meetings, drug and alcohol testing, recreational activities, and referrals to community resources. Individuals completing treatment are eligible for up to one year of aftercare that includes relapse prevention, crisis counseling, job training, employment assistance, housing support, and alumni activities, helping clients build a strong foundation for lasting recovery and independent living.
