Chrysalis House, Inc., established in 1978, is Kentucky’s oldest and largest licensed residential treatment program for women with substance use disorders. The organization is dedicated to providing family-oriented treatment and recovery support, allowing women to keep their infants and toddlers with them while undergoing treatment.
With three residential facilities, a forty-unit apartment complex, a multi-purpose community center spanning 18,000 square feet, and an outpatient program, Chrysalis House offers comprehensive services. In addition to substance use treatment, the agency provides mental health care, case management, domestic violence counseling, vocational training, job placement assistance, GED tutoring, computer training, medical care access, housing support, and children’s services. Collaboration is a cornerstone of Chrysalis House’s approach, with over seventy community partnerships ensuring a broad network of support.
Chrysalis House specializes in serving pregnant and parenting women, prioritizing the admission of expectant mothers to mitigate the impact of substance use on their unborn children. Nearly half of the women entering the program are pregnant, with many giving birth while in treatment. The organization is committed to empowering women to achieve independence, equipping them with the skills and support needed to provide for themselves and their children.
Ongoing care is a vital component of Chrysalis House’s mission. Graduates receive continued support and are encouraged to return for assistance as needed. Many graduates maintain sobriety, secure stable employment, earn educational qualifications, live independently, and contribute to their communities.
Chrysalis House’s vision is to help chemically dependent women and their families lead sober, stable, and rewarding lives. Accredited by CARF, the organization upholds international standards for quality, demonstrating its dedication to excellence and its value to the community it serves.
