Samaritan House has been guiding men on their journey to an addiction-free life since 1971. Founded by recovering addicts who recognized the need for residential care, the organization began on West Street in Annapolis, Maryland, and later relocated to a tranquil, wooded 13-acre property within the city. This serene environment fosters recovery and personal growth, providing a supportive space for clients to engage in individual and group counseling, relapse prevention, and life-skills training under the care of a skilled professional staff.
Today, Samaritan House offers accommodations for 48 clients across four houses, including a longer-term transitional house designed for program graduates with at least 90 days of sobriety. The facilities feature amenities like basketball and volleyball courts, gardens, picnic areas, a recreational room, and a large outdoor pavilion, all promoting fellowship and an active, addiction-free community.
Guided by the mission to reintegrate clients into society as fully functioning, sober individuals, Samaritan House employs evidence-based practices that emphasize personal responsibility for recovery and community engagement. Their enduring motto, “We can do together what we cannot do alone,” reflects the collective strength and support that define their approach to healing and transformation.
