Veterans Affairs Healthcare System Substance Use Disorders (SUD) provides substance use disorder treatment for eligible veterans through the VA healthcare system. The program offers comprehensive assessment and treatment for alcohol and drug use disorders, with services that may include outpatient counseling, individual and group therapy, relapse prevention, medication-assisted treatment, and recovery support. Treatment is tailored to each veteran’s clinical needs and may address co-occurring mental health concerns alongside substance use. As part of the VA healthcare system, the program connects veterans with additional medical, mental health, social, and supportive services intended to promote recovery, improve functioning, and support long-term sobriety.
