Beloit Health System’s Outpatient Substance Use Disorder Program is an addiction treatment service based in Beloit, Wisconsin, in Rock County, providing outpatient care for people experiencing alcoholism and addiction to other drugs while allowing participants to continue living at home and maintaining their normal daily responsibilities. The program develops an individualized treatment plan based on each client’s needs and can involve family members and other people close to the client as part of the recovery process. Individuals seeking substance abuse or addiction treatment first receive an evaluation from a mental health counselor to determine whether substance dependence is present and identify the appropriate level of care, with clients appropriate for outpatient treatment admitted to the program. Treatment is designed to help participants develop lives free from harmful chemical involvement, strengthen or restore relationships, improve coping and personal functioning, and support continued personal growth. The structured outpatient program includes substance use assessment, educational lectures, group therapy, individual counseling, and continuing care, with psychological evaluation available at admission when clinically appropriate. Primary outpatient treatment can generally be completed within 12 to 16 weeks, followed by Continuing Care groups at Beloit Memorial Hospital that generally last another 10 to 12 weeks. Referrals may come directly from clients as well as employers, physicians, family members, friends, clergy, Employee Assistance Program counselors, the court system, the Impaired Professionals Program, and the Intoxicated Driver Program. With the client’s permission, Counseling Care Center staff can maintain communication with referral sources throughout treatment to support continuity and recovery.
