Maehnowesekiyah Wellness Center in Gresham, Wisconsin, is associated with the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin and provides behavioral health, wellness, and addiction recovery resources for the Menominee community and surrounding area in Shawano County. An important component of its addiction related support is the Menominee Indian Community Addiction Assistance Program, known as MITCAAP, an initiative of the Drug Addiction Intervention Team that helps individuals who are seeking recovery or are already progressing through the addiction recovery process. MITCAAP provides side by side assistance intended to help people understand and navigate treatment services, recovery resources, and the challenges that can arise during recovery. Certified Recovery Coaches are a central part of the program and use their own lived recovery experience to provide practical guidance, encouragement, and an understanding perspective to people affected by substance abuse and addiction. This peer based approach can help individuals connect with appropriate treatment and community resources while receiving continuing recovery support from someone familiar with the recovery process. MITCAAP also provides a dedicated hotline with assistance available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, helping make addiction and recovery support accessible when it is needed. Through Maehnowesekiyah Wellness Center, MITCAAP, the Drug Addiction Intervention Team, recovery coaching, and other tribal health and community resources, the Menominee Indian Tribe provides a culturally connected system of support for individuals and families affected by addiction.
