Roots Recovery, also identified as Roots Counseling Services, is an addiction treatment provider located in Shorewood, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, serving the greater Milwaukee area with a continuum of substance use disorder treatment that includes Day Treatment, Intensive Outpatient Treatment, standard Outpatient Treatment, and Sober Living. Its Intensive Outpatient Program is typically the second phase of a step down treatment model following the more structured Day Treatment level and is designed to help clients transfer recovery skills into everyday life while gradually becoming more independent. IOP participants attend programming four days per week from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and complete individual substance abuse counseling on a fifth day, providing enough flexibility for clients to begin working part time while remaining actively involved in treatment. Individual addiction counseling addresses underlying contributors to alcohol or drug use, personal triggers, stress management, coping strategies, and relapse prevention, while group therapy, recovery workshops, 12 Step meetings, and speaker presentations help clients develop peer relationships, accountability, communication skills, conflict resolution abilities, and healthier social connections. Treatment also emphasizes practical recovery skills such as nutrition, healthy sleep habits, mindfulness, meditation, spirituality, sober recreation, and strategies for maintaining sobriety when returning to work, family, and community responsibilities. Roots Recovery provides treatment for addictions involving alcohol, heroin, fentanyl, opioids and other opiates, benzodiazepines, methamphetamine, cocaine, and other controlled substances, with additional recovery services including family counseling, dual diagnosis treatment for co occurring substance use and mental health concerns, Medication Assisted Treatment, life skills development, and alumni fellowship. Sober living residences can provide an additional recovery oriented environment and peer community while clients participate in outpatient care. The organization uses evidence based and holistic treatment approaches with individualized substance abuse counseling intended to help clients establish a sustainable foundation for long term recovery.
