Much of the substance use conversation in Colorado has centered around the state’s pioneering legal marijuana use. The reality is, however, that the state is stricken with many other substance use issues, for which residents in all communities need quality treatment. Data from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) indicates that 1,477 Coloradans died of drug overdoses in 2020. One of the primary drivers of these deaths, and one of the most urgent and pervasive public health issues in the state, is the uptick in fentanyl abuse. Between 2019 and 2020, the number of overdose deaths involving fentanyl more than doubled. The state is also battling meth addiction in many of its rural communities.
Colorado Substance Use Rehab Resources
No matter what type of substance use issue you or your loved one are facing, there are multiple facilities in Colorado that can help you find your way to recovery and a better tomorrow. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) indicates that an average of 52,388 people in Colorado were enrolled in substance use treatment in 2019, representing an increase from 34,793 people in 2015. The state has dramatically increased its opioid treatment provider (OTP) resources over the past five years to keep pace with the escalating overdose numbers, and there are dozens of inpatient and outpatient facilities where you can get help.
