St. Clair County Community Mental Health (SCCCMH) offers a comprehensive Substance Use Disorder (SUD) program that provides screenings, treatment, and support for individuals facing substance use challenges. The program includes crisis support services, featuring a 24-hour mobile crisis team and crisis stabilization to ensure immediate assistance when needed.
SCCCMH employs a Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) approach, combining medications with counseling and therapy to treat SUD effectively. This whole-person strategy leverages medications that block the effects of alcohol and opioids, relieve cravings, and restore normal body functions, all while minimizing negative side effects.
Individual therapy is available to reinforce motivation for recovery and address underlying mental health concerns such as trauma, anxiety, and depression. Certified Recovery Coaches, who are individuals successfully living in recovery, provide support and guidance, fostering mutual empowerment and understanding.
The SUD Relapse Prevention Group offers education and support to those seeking long-term recovery, covering essential topics such as understanding addiction, developing coping skills, and preventing relapse amidst everyday stressors. Funding for these vital services is partially provided by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and Region 10 PIHP, ensuring access to quality care for the community.
