Prospect House is a nonprofit long-term residential treatment center in Cincinnati, Ohio, dedicated to helping adult and young adult men ages 18–64 overcome substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. Established in 1970, the program provides abstinence-based care for up to 60 residents, prioritizing individuals with limited financial resources.
Its long-term residential program spans 6–18 months and integrates individual and group counseling, 12-step facilitation, cognitive behavioral and trauma-focused therapies, relapse prevention, anger management, life-skills training, and peer support. Specialized tracks are available for veterans, LGBTQ clients, court-referred individuals, those with histories of trauma or domestic violence, and residents living with HIV/AIDS. Transitional and aftercare services include alumni housing, employment counseling, relapse prevention planning, overdose education with naloxone, and peer-led recovery support.
Prospect House combines 12-step principles with evidence-based methods such as CBT, REBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and contingency management. Residents live in a sober, peer-driven community with on-site AA/NA meetings, regular drug screenings, and structured accountability. Holistic supports such as transportation assistance and social skills development further reinforce recovery, helping residents build the tools for long-term stability and independence.
