Kickapoo Tribal Health Center Behavioral Health is a comprehensive behavioral health and substance use treatment program located in McLoud, Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma, dedicated to promoting the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well being of Native American individuals and families through a holistic approach to care. Serving Native Americans ages 3 and older with a Certificate Degree of Indian Blood from a federally recognized tribe, the program provides a full continuum of behavioral health services that includes mental health assessments, individual, family, marital, and couples counseling, crisis intervention, trauma therapy, grief and loss counseling, support groups, case management, peer recovery support, psychiatry, and referrals to additional treatment resources. Substance abuse treatment is a major component of the program, offering comprehensive substance use assessments, individual counseling, court related assessments, recovery support services, and referrals to residential treatment when needed. Through its Tribal Opioid Response Grant, the center also provides Medication Assisted Treatment for individuals struggling with opioid use disorder, combining FDA approved medications with counseling and recovery services to reduce withdrawal symptoms and support long term sobriety. Additional grant funded initiatives, including the Native Connections Grant and the Substance Abuse and Suicide Prevention Grant, expand prevention, early intervention, recovery support, suicide prevention, and culturally responsive behavioral health services for Native American youth, adults, and families. The program further strengthens recovery by offering Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, traditional cultural resources such as the Matapita Sweat Lodge, transportation assistance, Kickapoo language interpretation, smoking cessation support, youth engagement activities, and community education on topics including substance use prevention, mental health awareness, suicide prevention, trauma informed care, emotional wellness, and life skills. Through its integration of evidence based practices with culturally grounded healing traditions, Kickapoo Tribal Health Center Behavioral Health helps individuals and families achieve lasting recovery, improved mental health, and healthier lives throughout the Kickapoo Tribal service area.
