Lafayette County Human Services Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Unit (AODA) is an outpatient substance use disorder treatment program located in Darlington, Wisconsin, serving adolescents, adults, intoxicated drivers, affected family members, and other residents of Lafayette County who are impacted by alcohol or drug abuse and addiction. The AODA Unit provides intervention, confidential assessment, diagnosis, individualized treatment planning, education, and therapeutic services, with care designed to address the whole person rather than substance use alone. Because addiction and mental health disorders frequently occur together, the treatment team can integrate mental health counseling and appropriate psychiatric care for individuals experiencing co-occurring concerns such as depression, anxiety, or post-traumatic stress along with a substance use disorder. The program also serves individuals involved with the Intoxicated Driver Program and provides resources that can complement formal treatment and recovery, including connections to Alcoholics Anonymous and statewide addiction recovery resources. Pregnant women who need alcohol or other substance use treatment are given priority access to services and are served right away even when there is a waiting list, making pregnancy an important priority population within the county’s addiction treatment system. Lafayette County Human Services also maintains an AODA Crisis Line for people requiring more immediate assistance and provides connections to additional detoxification, rehabilitation, mental health, and recovery resources when appropriate.
