TriHealth’s Good Samaritan Treatment Center in Cincinnati is part of one of the region’s longest-running hospital-based addiction programs, first established in 1978 at Bethesda Oak and now operating on the Good Samaritan Hospital campus. The center provides a comprehensive range of outpatient and detox services for adults seeking recovery while maintaining their daily routines.
Treatment begins with a thorough assessment, typically scheduled within three business days, to evaluate substance use and related health needs. Based on this evaluation, each client receives a personalized treatment plan. The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a core offering, with both day (9 AM–noon) and evening (6–9 PM) sessions held three times weekly. This program emphasizes relapse prevention, recovery skills, and peer support. Outpatient detox and medication-assisted treatment are also available, including ambulatory detox and the use of buprenorphine or naltrexone for opioid and alcohol recovery, as well as medications to ease withdrawal symptoms.
For ongoing support, the center offers continuing care programs, including volunteer-led aftercare and counselor-led sessions specifically for professionals. Family involvement is encouraged through a six-week education program that equips loved ones with coping strategies and recovery support tools. Unique features of the program include *HealthRHYTHMS*, a therapeutic, percussion-based group activity designed to improve communication, relaxation, and overall well-being.
In addition, the center provides specialized services for physicians, nurses, pharmacists, pilots, and other licensed professionals, including board- and FAA-approved assessments and treatment referrals. With its long-standing reputation and emphasis on individualized, evidence-based care, Good Samaritan Treatment Center remains a trusted resource for those seeking effective pathways to recovery.
